The Olympic Torch will be in Abbotsford on February 7, 2010 at 4:00 pm. This is an exciting day for Abbotsford residents and athletes, and we know that it will be a memorable day for everyone. Please be aware that as the torch makes its way through Abbotsford, the Torch Relay organizers will be initiating brief rolling road closures along the route, including: 

-         Whatcom Rd from North Parallel Rd to Lower Sumas Mountain Rd
-          Lower Sumas Mountain Rd from Whatcom Rd to Old Yale Rd
-          Old Yale Rd from Lower Sumas Mountain Rd to Delair Rd
-          Delair Road from Old Yale Road to Everett Road
-          Everett Road from Delair Road to Marshall Road
-          Marshall Road from Everett Road to McMillan Road
-          McMillan Road from Marshall Road to Old Yale Road
-          Old Yale Road from McMillan Road to Essendene Avenue
-          Essendene Avenue from Old Yale Road to South Fraser Way
-          South Fraser Way from Essendene Avenue to Clearbrook Rd
-          Clearbrook Road from South Fraser Way to Maclure Road
-          Maclure Road from Clearbrook Road to Trethewey Street
-          Trethewey Street from Maclure Road to Haida Drive
-          Haida Drive from Trethewey Street to Gladwin Road
-          Gladwin Road from Haida Drive to Maclure Road
-          Maclure Road from Gladwin Road to Exhibition Park

The Torch Relay will arrive at Exhibition Park at approximately 7:00 p.m. Festivities will be taking place at Rotary Stadium at Exhibition Park between 5:45 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. We anticipate crowds of up to 12,000 people to join in this celebration. This will increase traffic in the Exhibition Park area.  

Performers and handicap parking & some public parking:
• Abbotsford Exhibition Park, 32470 Haida Drive, Gate 1.

Public Parking:
• Abbotsford Exhibition Park, 32470 Haida Drive (includes overflow lots), Gate 2
• Chief Dan George Middle School – 32877 Old Riverside Road/corner of Gladwin Road
• Colleen & Gordie Howe Middle School – 3174 Clearbrook Road
• Trinity Christian Reformed Church – 3215 Trethewey Street.
• Clearbrook Park, entrance off of Trethewey
• WJ Mouat Secondary School – 32355 Mouat Drive

LANDMARK REALTY SELF GUIDED CHRISTMAS LIGHT TOUR:

 The 2009 Christmas Light Tour was a huge success.  With the support of our community we were able to donate several bags of food and $1872.00 in cash this year to our Abbotsford Food Bank.   A big thank you to all who participated to make this event a success, participants who bought maps, homeowners who decorated and of course our sponsors, Abbotsford News, Homestead Nursery, The Glass Hive Studio, Glenda’s Christmas Cottage, & Clayburn IGA.  Be assured that the 2010 tour planning is under way!
