It's been 17 years since the Vancouver Canucks were last in contention for the Stanley Cup. And it's also been 17 years since the Whale Mobile made its maiden voyage in support of the battle cry of Canucks fans everywhere: whale on New York.


Well, the Canucks are back in the Stanley Cup Final and so is the legendary Whale Mobile, bigger and better than ever before.

As you can see in the picture above, the Whale Mobile's looking right at home in front of the "Whale Tank" (a.k.a Rogers Arena, or, as we like to call it, the future home of the Stanley Cup).

Although we're best known for our work with home buyers and sellers in many of the communities that make up the Fraser Valley real estate market, members of the Landmark Realty team have also been working hard over the years at giving back to the communities we serve.


Our community volunteering work is very important to us and is something we're extremely proud of.We're also extremely proud of the fact that the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board recently recognized our community support work we do by naming Landmark Realty as the sole corporate recipient of the REALTORS® Make Good Neighbours Award.


The Fraser Valley Real Estate Board introduced the award in 2002 as a way of recognizing the tireless work that many of the area's 2,800+ real estate professionals do in service of the communities in which they live and work.


The award takes into consideration a number of factors, including:




Amount of time spent volunteering


Level of responsibilty undertaken as volunteers


Overall impact of their efforts within their communities




The selection committee is made up of people external to the real estate field who work with non-profit associations and local charities. They considered a field of more than 100 possible real estate offices.


Some of the groups and events Landmark Realty worked with in 2010 include:




Abbotsford Minor Baseball Association


Abbotsford Police Challenge Run


Abbotsford Food Bank (through events such as Christmas in August, the November Challenge, and the Christmas Light Tour)




We'd also like to congratulate Louise McKnight of Bay Realty in White Rock who was the sole recipient of the individual award for REALTORS® Make Good Neighbours for 2010.


The awards were presented at the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board Annual General Meeting on February 16. Board President, Deanna Horn, had this to say about the awards and the award recipients:
