The sale of a new home (single family dwellings or strata lots) is subject to Goods and Services Tax. The tax is 5% of the purchase price and is payable:

For condominium units: on the earlier of the date that ownership is transferred and 60 days after registration of the condominium complex.

For single family homes: on the earlier of the date that ownership is transferred and the date possession is transferred under an agreement of purchase and sale.
